Ritula Shah is an award winning journalist and broadcaster whose enviable reputation has been built on the back of a 35 year career with the BBC. Having stepped down from The World Tonight on Radio 4, she now presents a late night show on Classic FM

Ritula Shah ignored her father’s sensible advice to become a lawyer. Instead, she graduated in History from Warwick University in 1988 and soon afterwoods, she joined the BBC in Birmingham and won a place on the Midlands Production Training Scheme.

Ritula Shah went on to become an award winning journalist and broadcaster during a 35 year carreer with the BBC.

For 15 years, she was the main presenter of the World Tonight, Radio 4’s evening news programme, which has a focus on international affairs and domestic politics. She's presented the programme from countries including Brazil, Jordan, India, China, the US, Guantanamo Bay, Finland and Germany. 

She was also the lead presenter of The Real Story, a weekly discussion programme on the BBC World Service. 

Ritula chairs events for businesses, universities and think tanks on everything from current affairs to philosophy. 

She is a trustee of the visual arts organisation INIVA and an ambassador for the British Asian Trust.
